What is Acupuncture?

Conventional Western medicine uses medications and surgery as its primary treatment modalities, while acupuncture stimulates the body to heal itself. Acupuncture can be utilized alone or in conjunction with conventional forms of treatment. The ultimate goal is to restore your health and well-being by utilizing all available resources.

How Does Acupuncture work?
The ancient Chinese believed that energy, called Qi (pronounced Chee), flows through each cell of the body.

According to the classical doctrines of Chinese Medicine, there is an unceasing flow of "life energy" through the doby. This vital energy, Qi originates from the major organs, flows along continuous circulatory channels called meridians and passes through other organs to end or begin on the extremities.

If the energy becomes blocked at a certain spot, it creates an imbalance that can lead to a variety of health problems.

Acupuncture focuses on points where Qi becomes blocked. Stimulating these points with needles restores normal Qi circulation, allowing the cells to return to their healthy state.

When the energy flow is smooth and balanced you are healthy!

How Can Acupuncture Help Me?

Prevention is the best medicine.  The human body is constantly regenerating itself, and therein lies the opportunity to heal itself.  It is our goal to find and correct the imbalances that produced your symptoms before further damage results; thereby treating pain and symptomology while simultaneously addressing the root fo the problem.

"Maintaining order rather than correcting disorder is the ultimate principle of wisdom.  To cure disease after it has appeared is like digging a well when one already feels thirsty."  Efrem Korngold, Acupuncturist.

Results may be experienced within 1 or 2 treatments, but more likely to be experienced after a course of several treatments.  The exact number depends upon your body's response to this healing modality, it's internal integrity and the degree of damage to the body.  The therapeutic benefits of the treatments will build upon themselves to help you maintain a more optimal level of health.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has formally proclaimed that acupuncture is an effective medical treatmet, declaring, t"The sheer weight of evidence demands that acupuncture must be taken seriously as a aclinical procedure of considerable value."

Applications of Oriental Medicine couls include eliminating pain entirely, reducing pain and its associated  medication, and/or expediting the recovery process after surgery.  Internal imbalances such as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia are addressed afrom both a symptom reduction approach as well as addressing the root cause.
